Kaiwhare skating.

Konnichiwa Bloggers

On the 13th of November Friday the middle school had Skateboarding skills. It was amazing to learn lots of new tricks. We did a crab walk and tic tacs and lots of other really cool tricks. They were sort of hard to learn even though my dad has a skateboard. First we had to pick a skateboard and a helmet. By the way, the skateboarding teachers' names were Ben and Lawrence. After that we had to do a warmup to find out what leg had to be at the front and what we have to be at the back of the skateboard. We had to fall forward and see what leg went out first and that was what had to go at the front. Next Lawrence taught us how to skate and stop so then we got to skate around for a while. Then Ben and Lawrance taught us some more tricks. After that we played a game called What’s up wolf pack. It was sort of like what’s the time Mr Wolf, except we had to go back 4 skates if we moved. After that it was time to go back to class but… we had another lesson later on the same day hooray. Here are some pictures of the day.

Production

Hey Bloggers,

Our school Waikowhai Primary has a production every two years that we perform. Last week we held our 5 performances of Jasmine and Aladdin at Waikowhai Intermediate school hall, Also our wonderful parents and any adult in our family were allowed to come and watch on three of the days that we performed.

"Kaiwhare" Mrs Rai beckoned with her hand. It was my classes turn "yay" I said in my head. For me it is exciting to go on stage because I have been on lots of stages before. As I walked up the stairs and onto the stage a extremely bright light shone and the audience went pitch black. Suddenly music started to play I danced my hand went up then down and I carried on my dance then my class went back down the stairs and back to our seats and we watched the rest of our production performance. Here are some pictures down below.

Mangere Mountain Trip.

Mangere Mountain Trip

Talofa Lava Bloggers,

On the 16th of November The middle school went to Mangere Mountain on a school trip. First two of the guides sang a Karanga to welcome us then we sang a Karakia and got told we were very good. Then they told us the daily timetable of what we were going to do on that day and some safety rules.

Secondly we had morning tea and went to the toilet if we had to because there was no toilets on the Mountain. After that we started walking to the Mountain. We were walking and walking until we were at one of the craters. Ellie my groups guide told us all about the mountain guess what apparently people used to live on the mountain 70000 years ago. Then we carried on our Hikoi / walk. When we got back to the Mangere centre we had lunch and then had a little play in a small park. After when the time was up they said we were going to do some workshops. One workshop was making a tool that people uses to cut wood with 70000 years ago. The second workshop was when Leilani the other groups guide took us on a walk to see the different trees that were used for Maori medicine. When we had finished that little walk we all got to taste some Kawakawa tea for me it was disgusting. Both groups got a turn at each workshop. My favourite part was when we got told that people used to live on the Mountain even though it was hard believe it was true it was my favourite because i learnt something new and we also walked to some places that they lived in and it was really cool to see where they used to live in person. Then it was time to go I had an amazing day and it was so fun.

Athletics Day

Athletics Day

“It is so hot!” On Tuesday the 27th of October Waikowhai Primary School participated in athletics day. We rotated around to 14 different activities in age groups plus our whole school relays at the end of the day. I was in the 9 year old girls group. If the parents were able to come they could and watch their children or child. I know there was 14 activities but my group only got to do 13 because the was not enough time to do that specific activity. My favourite activities were high jump and long jump. I liked high jump because I came third and learnt how to jump higher to get over the bar. I enjoyed long jump because I got a place as well but not third this time. I got second.  I also learnt how to throw different objects in fun throws and shot put. Here are a few pictures of the day. (They are not all of me by the way.)
