Mangere Mountain Trip.

Mangere Mountain Trip

Talofa Lava Bloggers,

On the 16th of November The middle school went to Mangere Mountain on a school trip. First two of the guides sang a Karanga to welcome us then we sang a Karakia and got told we were very good. Then they told us the daily timetable of what we were going to do on that day and some safety rules.

Secondly we had morning tea and went to the toilet if we had to because there was no toilets on the Mountain. After that we started walking to the Mountain. We were walking and walking until we were at one of the craters. Ellie my groups guide told us all about the mountain guess what apparently people used to live on the mountain 70000 years ago. Then we carried on our Hikoi / walk. When we got back to the Mangere centre we had lunch and then had a little play in a small park. After when the time was up they said we were going to do some workshops. One workshop was making a tool that people uses to cut wood with 70000 years ago. The second workshop was when Leilani the other groups guide took us on a walk to see the different trees that were used for Maori medicine. When we had finished that little walk we all got to taste some Kawakawa tea for me it was disgusting. Both groups got a turn at each workshop. My favourite part was when we got told that people used to live on the Mountain even though it was hard believe it was true it was my favourite because i learnt something new and we also walked to some places that they lived in and it was really cool to see where they used to live in person. Then it was time to go I had an amazing day and it was so fun.
