Narative Writing!

 Morena Bloggers,

This week in Te Waka Ako we were learning how to make a narative story. Each day we read the first slides to gather our information. The second thing we had to do was to create our own animal to include in our story. I named mine Pao as it will say in the story. Then a few days later we started our first drafts. At first I didn't know how to start my story so I had to get a bit of help. The next day I made sure I had the right capital letters and puntuation. Today our job was to finish our story and blog it!... Here is a link to what I have been working on through out this week. Hope You Enjoy!

My Lockdown Work

 Morena Bloggers,

A few weeks ago My teachers decided to add all of of work onto one slideshow altogether. I think that is a great idea because then its easier for everone to find our work. This week again we did that same thing and put all of our work on one slideshow. This week was a different week we had really fun activites to do and lots of websites that held books to read. Throughout this week we have been given extra tasks. One was to create a christmas card for our priminister. Which I think thats pretty cool to have an opertunity to do this. Down below is a link to my work slideshow.

Stay safe and stay strong :)

Lockdown Highlights

 Morena Bloggers,

Through out Lockdown we have been doing Friday Syndicate meets. We always have a theme that we have to dress up as. The teachers also put up extra tasks for us to do on a slide show so that we can see what everyone gets up to. A few weeks ago as part of our work we had to put all of our highlights from Lockdown on a slide show called (Lockdown highlights) I didn't realise how much fun I have had during this lockdown im lucky because my teachers always put out cool new things for us to do every day. I like it because it gives me something fun to do during this boring lockdown. Down below is a picture and link to my Lockdown highlights slide show. Hope you enjoy! Blog you guys later.

Lockdown Holidays.

 Talofa Lava bloggers,

During Lockdown in level 3 was quite boring because we could not really do anything. We tried to get out as much as possible. We went on lots of walks through the park. We even stopped at a playground and played that was fun. I am still doing my online dancing so that is keeping me occupied, And is really fun. I cleaned out my room with my mum and got rid of loads of things that I did not play with any more. Even though this was quite boring it was something to do. I had a couple of outdoor picnics with my friends and family. That was nice because I finally got to see them. some days I talk to my friends on old Google meets. We do this sometimes when we play games together. I went out to Ranui and had a puppy playdate with my dads freinds from work. I have also been doing lots if lego we just finished a lego tree house I love doing this during lockdown because I get to do it with all of my family and that was nice for us to do something all together. Now its back to doing school work. Here are some pictures of what I did during lockdown.

Rodney Wright DLO

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

Over the past few days in lockdown Te waka Ako have been finding information on a paralympian.

I picked Rodney Wright, Once we have finished finding all the information we want we have to gather it all and put on a DLO, a rap song, or a book creator. As you all know we are in Lockdown so we have google meets every day with our class. On Wednesday and Friday Te Waka Ako have a synicate meet and talk about anything we want. My favourtie day of the week is Friday because we get handed certificates. The teachers put them into a folder on everybodys drives so we can have a look. When we get back to school the kids that got duffy certificates get to go to the office and get a free book to read. I love being in Lockdown because we get to spend lots of time with our family even though we can not go out and have fun it is fun being at home in my opinion. Let me no in a comment how you feel in Lockdown. Here is a link to my DLO

Olympic reading work.

Talofa lava bloggers,

Over the past few weeks Te Waka Ako have been working on an Olympic choose board for reading. We have to read lots of online and offline books and put the information we find onto a notes document. Every day before we start our choice board we have to read a book to a buddy from your same reading class for 5 minutes. Then we can start our reading choice board. Once we have all the information we need we are allowed to create a DLO or book on book creator. This is to gather all of our information that found and make a book all about the Olympics. I chose to make a book on book creator. I am now done with it and would like to share my work with you. Search bookcreater.com to try it yourself.
Blog you later. And check out my other posts.

Procedural writing.

 Talofa lava bloggers,

During writing we have been working on a procedural writing text about a game. I chose Snakes and ladders because it is a nice and simple thing to write about. I learnt how to make things that I am writing, make sense. We did this by following each others instructions exactly to see if they worked out with the steps and rules that were written. I think I did well because I am the only one in my class that has properly finished yet. Follow my instructions below if you would like to play.

STEM week Waikowhai Student led toolkits.

 Waikowhai toolkit.

On the 11th of June Waikowhai Primary School had a school toolkits with the seniors and middle school. During STEM week witch means science technology engineering mathematics week. There were 24 presenters and 12 toolkits to opt into. We used a survey to choose our first second and third choices for our toolkit on Friday. I was only allowed to pick one thing because I was presenting Incredibox twice to the middle school and seniors mixed up.

My first toolkit was Word Art in Waitemata. It was presented by Vivian and Hazel. This is a really cool and fun app to play with. Once they had finished the slideshow we got to have sandpit time. That was when we all got to make whatever we wanted. I made 3 that I am going to show you down below. Word Art is like art but on a devise where you have to put lots of word into a shape that looks really cool. Maybe you could have a try on this app. You can do whatever you like use your imagination with Word Art.

They second toolkit I was presenting in Kaiwhare with 12 people. I was nervous at this point it was like being a teacher having to look after so many children. I was presenting with Kiani. We had to make a slideshow on how to use Incredibox. Incredibox is an app that you can make your own music in. When you join Incredibox you have to drag little icons onto men to create some music. I really like Incredibox because it gives you a chance to be creative because there is different styles of music that you can create your own music with. The slideshow had to include some sandpit time for them like 15 minutes. I had fun because I had to present again. And I would then know what I needed to do on my next time presenting in a different class. I had fun as well as some frustration from all of the noise the kids in the class were making. At least I had a teacher there to help if me and Kiani could not handle it.

My third toolkit I was presenting again. This time it was easier because Me and Kiani knew what we were doing We also had a a teacher in this class but he played with Incredibox so we had to handle a lot of noise in the class with almost 20 children. Again we were presenting Incredibox just in a different classroom. This time the class had more sandpit time playing with Incredibox.

After all I had a amazing day teaching different children how to use Incredibox as well as them making music. If we do this again I would love to carry on being a presenter just maybe with a different app.

Marine Reserve map.

Marine Reserves!

Talofa lava bloggers,

This week we have been focusing on the ocean. Te Waka Ako have been reading about marine reserves. We had to read a lot of information during the last few weeks. At least it was very interesting to do and really fun when we were finding the answers to some questions. We had a slide of 9 pages to do with lots of activities that we had to complete. Having to complete all these slides in only a few weeks was a bit hard because there was lots of information. One of the slides included writing a blog post which is this one here that you are reading. I now know a lot of information about Marine reserves such as were they are and how you can protect them. I also no the other areas that are protected around us, I am now able to share my completed slide show of sea week work. I hope you enjoy my learning.  If you have some free time please leave a comment or read other posts of mine.

Day without the year sixes

Kia Ora bloggers,
On the 17th of May the year sixes went to Spark Arena for a trip and the teachers went with them. So the year fives were  left here with Miss McGrath. When I got to school the year sixes had to eat something little or put something small in their pocket. I was jealous because I wanted to go to Spark Arena as well.

The first thing we did was talk about our well being survey. Then we had to answer some questions from the well being survey. After that we walked around the room with some music. When the music stopped we had to find a buddy and tell them something that we are grateful for.  Something else we did was making fortune tellers with nice complements to our self or to others. Then we had to test them out on someone. Closer to the end of the day we did a complement circle. We had to say a nice complement to some one and then they had to say one to another person after. That was fun. When we had finished that the year sixes stared to arrive as we were finishing some of our work that needed to be finished. Anyway that was my day without the year sixes. If you have a day without a class or a group of students. Maybe you could write a blog post about what you did that day. Blog you later bloggers. Down below are some instructions of how to make one. There is also some pictures of mine finished.

Swimming at Cameron pools!

Talofa lava bloggers,

Since week 1 term 2 the seniors and middle school have been swimming at Cameron Pools on Tuesday and Thursday. The seniors got buddied up with a class to go to Cameron Pools in the bus together. At the pool the middles and the seniors split. The middles went into the Nan's pool and the seniors went into the big and quite deep pool. We use boards or no boards. Each time we swam down the lane in a different style of swimming. My swimming coach is really nice to my group. Swimming at Cameron pools is really fun. Something that I would like to achieve would be me free style and my mermaid swim. Some of the styles of swimming we did were; free style, stream line, dolphin dive, mermaid swim and others. I love Cameron Pools. I hope you love swimming as well. Thank you for looking at my blog post. If you had any more free time could you please look my other posts or maybe even post a comment. Blog you later.

Day in the trenchs.

Talofa lava,

Guess what we did to celebrate Anzac Day? When I got to school we weren't allowed in the class room till 9.00 normally we are allowed in at 8.30. Me and my friends were peeking because we wanted to know what was in the class. All we could see was string. Why string? When the 9.00 bell went we all gathered up in one class and the teachers told us what we were doing. They were all wearing black and had green black and brown face paint.

The first thing we did was class by class enter the no mans land with our art book and pen, pencil and ruler. We had to crawl all the way till we had room the work. If we stuck our head up we would lose a life we had 10 lives. Or we would get shot with a Nerf gun. After we had all settled under the string we started to write down some equations while we waited for our basic facts sheets to come don the room. Once we all had out sheets we started. Then suddenly (bang) gunfire noises started it was loud and the noise was trying to distract us. Lots of people got distracted and got less then they would normally get, but I got more than I would normally get! I got 77/100 and I would normally get less then that.

Anyway Anzac maths we did a little bit of Anzac maths. There was a Information sheet of lots of information about the different wars. We also had a answer sheet that we had to put down our answers to lots of questions about Anzac Day there was also lots of maths included in these activities. After that we had brain break under the wires it was weird. We had to do exercise under string I think it was difficult because we could not stand up. These were the exercises we did. 10 push ups on our knees, 10 sit ups without touching the string above us. Then we had to hold a plank for 15 seconds.

When we had finished we write a letter and pretend we were at the war in a trench. Here is a link to my letter and there is also a acrostic poem about the wars. After lunch some people went swimming while we did a pictodraw about Gallipoli. This was fun and there was lots of drawing included in this activity. at the end of the day we had to find a ice block stick that is connected to a string. Then we had to get a buddy and blindfold them and give them instructions to wind up the string this was so fun and a bit frustrating because we kept mucking up the string. Anyway I had an amazing day I hope you like my blog post. What will you do on Anzac Day.

Year five maths.

Hola Bloggers,

In Te Waka Ako the Year 5's have been doing some separate maths. For our first lesson we had some special guests come in  to talk about it. They first explained  how to get into the app (Ako Maths) and how to find our lessons. Then we started. All we had to do is watch some videos and then answers some questions on a quiz that is linked to that in particular video. All together there is 13 videos and I am up to the ninth one so far. In the next few lessons we have had all we had to do was watch the videos and answer the quizzes. I find this maths really fun If you ever want to do some Ako Maths just search this akomaps.com.

Swimming at School.

Swimming

 Kia Ora Bloggers,

In Waitemata we have been learning how to fall into the pool and safe yourself.  We had to fall into the water because we live in a big country surrounded by water and we have to learn be safe. If you ever fall into the water it important to learn how to save yourself. Miss Daly my teacher told us to lie on the pool side wall and she would push us in and we had to turn onto of backs. After we had fallen into the pool we had to swim through the current. One by one we swam through people whooshing the water everywhere like we were swimming through the current. Another thing that we all had to do was a challenge we had sculling to try and not touch the bottom of our pool for three whole minutes. By the way our pool is up to my waist and I am not that tall. When it was my turn I was surprised I don't think my class had very much power because it was easy to swim through the pretend current. Anyway I had an amazing swimming time doing these things. When you have any free time please leave a comment

My Picasso Self Portrait.

Talofa Lava, Bloggers

Through out the past few weeks I have been working on my Picasso self portrait with my friends during either art or finishing. Here are the steps of how I have completed my art. Step One: draw your outline of a crazy Portrait. It could be of you or just a crazy person. I chose to do a crazy person. Step two: colour in your picture with really strong colours, just one tip Picasso's Never have white spaces so I am adding more colour to my hat. Step three: trace around  your pencil lines with vivid to make your outline stand out. If coping my steps does not help here is a link of the video my class used. I hope you have fun drawing your portrait. Down below is a picture of mine.

Lockdown 4

 Kia ora Bloggers,

How did you guys feel about being back in lockdown? I felt awful I hate having to go in lockdown. It was hard for me to keep track of what I was doing because we had to babysit my little baby cousin. Every day we have to complete 3 or more pieces of work. Because it is hard for the teachers to find all of the students work. We had to put our work on a special slideshow to show our work. My favourite school activity was doing my Pepeha As a extra piece of work. It was my favourite thing to do because I got to spend heaps of time with my family during this to get photos of my family. My favourite activity to do at home was my online Acro class. Acro is cool flexibility tricks and stuff like that. Anyway I got a brand new gym mat for it which I was also really excited about. Coming back to school for me is amazing because you get to see all of your friends even though you have to social distance a little bit. Anyway here is a picture and a link to My Pepeha.
